Drug tests interrupted Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and Anthony Edwards celebrations after gold meda

Team USA delivered phenomenal performances during the Paris Olympics, culminating in a gold medal victory. Many of the NBA’s top stars joined forces to make this achievement a reality. However, despite their strong showing on the world stage, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, and Anthony Edwards were subjected to drug tests, which interrupted their celebrations.

This was revealed recently when Durant and Edwards participated as panelists at the ongoing Fanatics Fest in New York. The duo spoke with former NBA star Jalen Rose, who headlined that panel session.

While discussing various moments from their time in Paris, Edwards talked about the drug tests he had to undergo with Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry. The Timberwolves star said:

We got drug tested. Yeah, we couldn’t really celebrate in the locker room for real cause me, him, and Steph had to take a drug test or something.

After the gold medal win over hosts France in the competition, USA players went ahead to celebrate in their locker room. However, Edwards, KD, and Curry were not a part of it initially as they had to comply with the drug tests required of them.

It is not unusual for sports stars to be tested for drugs after games. This is done mostly on a mandatory basis, but sometimes it can be required without prior notice.

From the statements of Ant-Man, the latter appears to have been the case at the 2024 Olympics as the trio were tested immediately. All three players helped the team massively in various games. Durant was an important part of the team’s attack, making an impact while coming off the bench. Edwards was the team’s spark, bringing energy every time he stepped foot on the court. And Curry, even though he had a few bad games, rose up to the occasion when the team needed him the most.

Kevin Durant heaps ‘GOAT’ praise on USA teammate Anthony Edwards

Following their triumph on the world stage, Durant has nothing but praise for his USA teammate Anthony Edwards. Both NBA stars took time to meet and engage with some fans at the ongoing Fanatics Fest in New York City.

At one point, the Phoenix Suns player was interviewed by a fan who quizzed him about being on the same team with the Timberwolves prodigy. And in response, Durant said:

Man, I call him the baby GOAT, you know what I mean.

Edwards also commented on his experience being with the 4-time gold medalist in the squad. According to him, he had a great experience playing with KD and was on his hip the whole tournament. Given the fact that the Timberwolves star is a huge fan of the 14-time All-Star Team honoree, it would likely be one of his most cherished memories.
