Police investigating after 2 bodies found in Ohio River within 24 hours of each other

CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Two bodies were found within 24 hours of each other in the Ohio River.

“We're not used to having two bodies within a 24-hour period," said Sgt.Donny Schuckmann, Boone County Water Rescue.

Boone County Water Rescue found the first victim between the Purple People Bridge and the Taylor Southgate Bridge at 8:10 p.m. on Friday. The deceased was taken to the Newport KY Fire and Campbell County Coroner's office.

The second deceased person was found on the river bank on the Ohio side by the Brent Spence Bridge on Saturday at 11:10 a.m. Cincinnati Police detectives, crime scene units and Hamilton County Coroner were at the location to begin an investigation.

Both recoveries are under investigation, according to a Boone County Water Rescue press release.

“Through the summer months, we've been diving probably once a week it seemed like. We've been doing recoveries of vehicles in the water, drowning victims or that. This year it's been slow, so this is catching up to us I guess you can say now," said Sgt. Schuckmann.
