BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — The pandemic has not been easy on not-for-profit operations.
And that includes Boise's no-kill shelter Simply Cats. Last year, organizers of Catsino, the shelter's annual fundraiser had to cancel the in-person event and go virtual. And with current health protocols, it's shaping up to be a repeat.
Shelter managers say the dollars they raise are critical to the overall operation and the cat's health.
"We usually net between $50,000 and $70,000 every year...it's a huge part of our operating budget," said Amanda Coulter, communications and fundraising coordinator. "We're really going to miss it this year. We're going to miss the people. It's quite a bummer."
Donations are tax-deductable and adoptions are still happening -- they're just virtual. Looking to adopt a furry new friend? Check out the kitties that are currently up for adoption.
